Aluminium Door Colours

aluminium door colours: White, Bronze, Charcoal, Black and Natural Anodised

Aluminium door colours are chosen once and lived with for decades, because the finish is applied at the factory and is part of the door. Coetz™ aluminium doors come in five finishes: White, Bronze, Charcoal and Black powder coat, and Natural Anodised. This guide explains each of the aluminium door colours, what they cost, which doors offer which finish, and how to choose one that suits the house.

White, Bronze, Charcoal and Black are powder coat: a coloured polyester powder baked onto the aluminium. Natural Anodised is different: the finish is grown from the metal itself, giving a silver, metallic look. See anodised aluminium windows for how anodising works.

Which doors offer which colours

Every door comes in White, Bronze, Charcoal and Black. Natural Anodised is not offered on StormSeal, Elite or Horizon sliding doors; it is available on the other ranges. Check the colour options on the product page before planning a whole house in Natural Anodised.

Choosing aluminium door colours

Match the windows

The simplest rule: order doors in the same finish as the windows, so the whole elevation lines up. Aluminium door colours and window colours are the same five finishes.

Think about the house

  • White suits coastal, cottage and bright modern homes, and shows the most light.
  • Bronze suits face brick, thatch and earthy palettes.
  • Charcoal is the most popular modern choice, softer than black.
  • Black gives the boldest outline; see black aluminium sliding doors and black aluminium folding doors.
  • Natural Anodised suits industrial, loft and commercial styles.

Think about the sun

Dark aluminium door colours absorb more heat on north and west elevations, so the frame warms up more to the touch. The glass and shading matter far more for comfort, but on a very exposed door a lighter colour runs cooler.

Colours for commercial doors

Shopfronts can be powder-coated in any colour, so a shop entrance can match a brand palette; see black aluminium shopfronts. For homes, the five standard aluminium door colours keep prices low and doors quick to make.

Inside and outside

Powder coat goes all round the profile, so the door is the same colour inside and out. Plan the inside too: black frames frame the view and suit dark floors and timber; white frames disappear against white walls.

Caring for the finish

Wash the frames with mild soap and water a few times a year and rinse clean. Dark finishes show water marks more, so dry them with a soft cloth. Never use abrasive pads or solvents. At the coast, rinse more often; see coastal aluminium windows. The warranty is 5 years on frames, glass and powder coat. For the window side, read aluminium window colours.
