How to buy aluminium windows online
Ordering takes a few minutes once you know your sizes. To buy aluminium windows online:
- Measure the structural opening, not the old frame. Our window measuring guide shows how.
- Find the size. Filter by window type and pick the size that fits your opening within your installer’s tolerance.
- Choose the configuration. The product name tells you the layout, such as “Single Opener”, “4-Pane” or the width of the opening vent.
- Choose the colour. White is standard. Charcoal and Bronze are also available, and Black and Natural Anodised cost a little more. The price updates when you select a colour.
- Add to cart and check out. Delivery is calculated from your address at checkout, or choose free collection from Laser Park.
If you buy aluminium windows online for a whole house, put them in one order. Delivery is charged per order, so one order is usually cheaper than several.
Buying aluminium doors online
Doors need a little more thought than windows, because the system affects how the room is used:
- Sliding doors open half or more of the opening and suit most patios. Check there is wall space for the panels to slide past each other.
- Stacking doors stack several panels to one side for a wider opening.
- Folding doors fold almost the whole width open. They need space for the folded stack, and you choose which side it sits on.
- Hinged and pivot doors suit front doors and single openings. Confirm the opening direction and hinge side.
When you buy aluminium doors online, read the panel layout and the overall size carefully, and measure the opening with our door measuring guide. Doors over 2 400 mm in either direction travel at the oversized delivery rate, which is calculated automatically at checkout. The aluminium door buying guide compares the systems in more detail.

Reading a product name
Whether you buy aluminium windows online or order aluminium doors online, product names follow one pattern, so you can compare sizes at a glance. Take “Coetz™ Top Hung – 1800 × 1800 mm – 4-Pane (600 mm Vent)”:
- Top Hung is the window type.
- 1800 × 1800 mm is the width × height of the frame, in that order.
- 4-Pane is the number of glass panes in the frame.
- (600 mm Vent) describes the opening part, here a vent 600 mm wide.
Door names work the same way: the range and type, then the overall size, then the panel layout, for example the number of panels and whether the door is bi-parting. If a size looks right but the layout does not, check the next product in the list. The same overall size often comes in several layouts.
Choosing windows and doors room by room
If you are not sure which type to choose before you buy aluminium windows and doors online, this quick guide covers the usual choices:
- Bedrooms. Top hung or side hung windows ventilate well and can be left slightly open.
- Bathrooms. A top hung window gives privacy and ventilation without opening wide; a frosted film adds extra privacy.
- Kitchens. A sliding window over the counter is easy to reach and does not swing into the room.
- Living rooms and patios. Sliding, stacking or folding doors open the room to the outside.
- Passages and stairwells. Fixed panes bring in light where no ventilation is needed.
- Front entrances. Hinged or pivot doors, with sidelights or toplights if you want more light.
The aluminium windows guide and the aluminium door buying guide go into each choice in depth.
Choosing a colour
When you buy aluminium windows and doors online, colour is chosen on the product page and the price updates with it.
- White is the standard finish and the lowest price. It suits most homes and is easy to match.
- Charcoal and Bronze are popular for modern and earthy schemes and are available across the range.
- Black gives a strong, contemporary frame line and costs a little more than White.
- Natural Anodised is a metallic finish rather than a coating, and also costs a little more than White.
Keep one colour across a house unless you deliberately want a contrast. Mixing colours by accident across two orders is a common and expensive mistake. Aluminium window colours shows the finishes in more detail.

Understanding the prices
Every price you see when you buy aluminium windows and doors online here is shown excluding VAT, and VAT is added at checkout.
- Price ranges on a product show the lowest and highest price across its colours. The White price is the lowest; Black and Natural Anodised are higher.
- What is included. The frame, the 6.38 mm clear laminated safety glass, the standard hardware for that product and the colour you choose.
- What is not included. Delivery, which is calculated at checkout, and installation. Aluminium windows and doors are supplied only.
- No sale pricing. The catalogue shows our standard prices. There are no “was/now” prices, so the price you see is the price.
Regular buyers can apply for a trade account.
Standard sizes and custom sizes
The shop lists hundreds of standard window and door sizes because most South African openings follow common dimensions. A standard size is the quickest way to buy aluminium windows online: it is priced instantly and manufactured to order in 1–2 days.
If no standard size fits your opening, you still have options:
- The estimator prices custom-size windows, doors, toplights, shopfronts and automatic doors in one place.
- The quote configurator collects the details for anything unusual, such as a non-standard shape or a large commercial opening.
- Custom shopfronts are made to measure and installed by MC Automations.
Custom units are made in the same workshop, with the same profiles and the same glass as the standard range.
Measuring tips before you shop
Measuring is where most problems start when people buy aluminium windows and doors online, and a made-to-order unit cannot be adjusted once it has been manufactured.
- Measure the structural opening, brick to brick or between the finished reveals, not the old frame.
- Measure the width at the top, middle and bottom, and the height at the left, middle and right. Use the smallest of each.
- Check that the opening is square. Measure both diagonals. If they differ by much, the installer will need to pack the frame, and you may need a smaller size.
- Allow for your installer’s fitting tolerance. Ask your installer how much gap they want around the frame before you choose a size.
- Note the opening direction for every sash and door, as seen from inside.
- Write each measurement against an opening reference, such as “Bedroom 1 – W1”, so the right unit goes into the right hole.
The window measuring guide and door measuring guide cover each step with diagrams.
Glass options beyond the standard
Clear laminated safety glass suits most windows and doors, but some rooms need something different:
- Frosted film, added after installation, for bathrooms and street-facing rooms where privacy matters.
- Toughened safety glass on the largest panels, where the product page specifies it.
Aluminium windows and doors are supplied with clear glass only – we do not supply obscure, tinted or Low-E glass on them. If you need a replacement pane, laminated glass can be ordered cut to size.
Energy and comfort
Aluminium frames with laminated glass already perform better than old single-glazed steel frames, but orientation matters as much as the product. West-facing glass gets the strongest afternoon sun, so consider roof overhangs, shading or a solar film there. Opening windows on opposite sides of a room give cross-ventilation that cools a home far more cheaply than air conditioning. The window energy efficiency guide explains the options.
Glass and safety
Every window and door in the shop is glazed with 6.38 mm clear laminated safety glass as standard. Laminated glass holds together if it breaks, which matters in doors, low windows and large panes, the places South African building regulations treat as critical locations. Where a very large panel needs toughened safety glass, the product page says so.
If you are replacing glass rather than a whole unit, glass cut to size is priced from your measurements. For the rules on where safety glass is required, see safety glass explained and our glazing compliance centre.
Coetz is a member of the South African Glass and Glazing Association (SAGGA), the industry body for glass and glazing in South Africa.

Shopping for automatic doors and spares
Automatic doors are listed in the shop with their prices: the MC-125 sliding door system at R27 590 excl. VAT and the MCW-100 swing door operator at R15 900 excl. VAT. Both are imported and assembled at our Laser Park workshop. Installation by MC Automations is included in Gauteng and quoted per project elsewhere.
Spare parts for both operators are priced online and can be collected or couriered nationwide. If your door needs a technician rather than a part, book a call-out on the automatic doors page.
New builds, renovations and replacements
How you buy aluminium windows and doors online depends on the job:
- New builds. Choose sizes early and give them to your builder, so the openings are built to standard sizes. That keeps you in the instantly priced standard range.
- Renovations. Where walls are being changed anyway, you have the same freedom as a new build. Plan larger doors before the lintels go in.
- Replacements. Existing openings rarely match standard sizes exactly. Measure the structural opening once the old frame is out, or carefully around it, and allow for your installer’s tolerance. Use the estimator if no standard size fits.
Ordering for trade and multi-unit projects
Builders, contractors and developers buy aluminium windows and doors online at the same published prices as everyone else. A trade account simplifies repeat ordering. For multi-unit projects, list each unit type with its quantity and opening reference, and keep the opening references on your drawings. Delivery is charged per order, so grouping units into one order keeps delivery costs down.
What happens after you buy aluminium windows and doors online
- You receive an order confirmation by email with the items and the total.
- Your order is manufactured. Standard catalogue items take 1–2 days.
- We tell you when it is ready. For collection, wait for this message before travelling to Laser Park.
- Your order is delivered, or you collect it. Check every unit before signing for it.
If something is not right, our returns and refunds page explains what to do, and the warranty page covers the product once it is installed.
Looking after your windows and doors
Aluminium is low-maintenance, not no-maintenance. Wash frames and glass with mild soapy water, keep sliding tracks free of grit, and check seals and drainage holes now and then, especially near the coast. The aluminium maintenance guide sets out a simple routine that keeps the finish and the hardware working for years.
Before you check out
- Have you measured the structural opening for every unit?
- Have you checked the opening direction of every sash and door?
- Is the colour right? Black and Natural Anodised cost more than White.
- Is your installer booked? Our aluminium windows and doors are supplied only.
- Is the delivery address and access confirmed, or will you collect?
- Ordering aluminium doors online? Check the panel layout and which side the door opens or stacks to.
Made-to-order units cannot be changed once they are manufactured, so a final check is worth the minute it takes.
