Compliance considerations

Glass specification for windows depends on the opening size, position and exposure. Larger or more exposed openings may call for a different glass or additional support under wind load, and glazing in hazardous positions may need safety glass. SANS 613 windows and doors →

Description

Coetz™ aluminium burglar bars are made to the standard opener sizes of our aluminium windows. Each bar covers the part of the window that opens – the top hung or side hung sash – so the fixed panes, already glazed in 6.38 mm laminated safety glass, stay clear and the window keeps its clean look. Pick the opener size and colour, and the price updates on the page.

How our aluminium burglar bars are made

Frame: 18 × 12 × 2 mm aluminium rectangular tube all round.
Bars: 12 mm solid aluminium square bar, running horizontally at 120 mm centres (about 108 mm clear between bars).
Stiles: an upright rec tube stile roughly every 600 mm of width on wider openers, to keep the bars stiff.
Fixings: stainless steel pop rivets are included with every burglar bar.
Colours: White, Bronze, Charcoal, Black and Natural Anodised – all five are the same price, so you can match your window frames.

Which size do I need?

Burglar bars go by the opening sash, not the whole window. Measure the width and height of the opener (the part that swings open) and choose the matching size. The sizes listed are the openers used across the Coetz™ window range – for example, a 1200 × 1200 mm top hung single opener has a 600 × 600 mm opener, and a 600 × 900 mm top hung window opens as one 600 × 900 mm sash. Twin opener windows need one burglar bar per opener, so set the quantity to 2.

Not sure which opener your window has? Open the drawing for your window in the online estimator – the opening sashes are marked – or browse the aluminium windows range. If your opener is a size that is not listed, request a quote with the measurements.

Burglar bars for sliding and folding windows

The sizes on this page suit top hung and side hung openers, including Genius casement and casement insert windows. For sliding or folding windows, send us the window size through the quote form.
