Automatic door remote control lets someone open an automatic door without walking up to the sensor: from a reception desk, a wheelchair, a car in the driveway or the other side of a room. Both automatic door operators that MC Automations, Coetz™’s parent company, supplies and installs can work with a remote. This guide explains how automatic door remote control works on the MC-125 sliding and MCW-100 swing operators, where it helps, the parts and prices, and what to check.

How it works
For automatic door remote control, a remote sends a radio signal to a receiver wired into the door’s controller. When the receiver picks up the signal, it tells the operator to open, in the same way a sensor or push button would. The safety sensors still protect the doorway, so the door will not close on someone standing in it.
On the MC-125 sliding door
The MC-125 works with a 4-button remote and a matching receiver. Both are stocked as MC-125 spares.
On the MCW-100 swing door
The MCW-100 supports remote control and wireless push buttons. Its accessories, including sensors, push buttons, remotes and electric locks, are included in the operator price. See low energy automatic swing doors.
Where automatic door remote control helps
- Accessible entrances, where a wheelchair user opens the door before reaching it.
- Reception desks, where staff let visitors in from behind the desk.
- Homes, where a family member with limited mobility opens the front or garage-to-house door. See automatic sliding doors for homes.
- Controlled entrances, combined with lock mode so the door only opens when someone chooses to let a person in.
- Deliveries, where a door can be opened for a trolley without touching it.

Parts and prices
Automatic door remote control parts are priced excluding VAT, at the time of writing (October 2026).
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| MC-125 remote, 4-button | R1 183 |
| MC-125 receiver | R1 470 |
| MC-125 complete sliding door system | R27 590 |
| MCW-100 swing operator, accessories included | R15 900 |
The receiver must be wired into the controller and set up by a technician. See automatic door spare parts.
Remote control and the operating modes
Automatic door remote control works alongside the door’s operating modes. In automatic mode, the remote is simply an extra way to open the door. How the remote should behave in the other modes, such as lock or exit only, is set up by the technician to suit your entrance, so tell us how you plan to use it. See automatic door operating modes and automatic door activation methods.

Before you add a remote
- Decide who carries remotes and how many you need.
- Check the distance from where the remote will be used to the door.
- Decide how the remote should work in each operating mode.
- Plan for lost remotes: agree what happens if one goes missing.
- Book a technician to fit the receiver and test the safety sensors afterwards.
Remotes and security
A remote is a key. Keep a list of who holds one, and tell us straight away if one is lost, so the door can be secured, which may mean resetting or replacing the receiver. For entrances that need an audit trail of who came in and when, access control with cards or codes is the better choice; see automatic door access control.

Fitting and servicing
In Gauteng, MC Automations fits automatic door remote control kits and receivers, and attends call-outs within 24 hours at R1 450 excluding VAT within 60 km, then R7 per km. Service automatic doors every six months. Automatic entrances follow the safety principles in automatic door safety; the South African Bureau of Standards publishes the national standards framework.
