In this guide
Planning for the Northern Cape Kalahari climate
Aluminium windows and doors Kuruman buyers should plan for hot, dry summers with occasional thunderstorms, cold winter nights with frost, very little rain and dust on windy days. Three practical choices follow:
- Cut the heat and glare. West-facing windows and sliding doors can take the tinted glass options priced in the online estimator.
- Keep dust out of the tracks. Vacuum sliding window and door tracks often so grit does not wear the rollers.
- Ventilate at night. Side hung windows open wide for a cross-breeze once the evening cools down.
Aluminium will not warp or crack in the dry heat the way timber can, and a roof overhang keeps the summer sun off the glass.
