In this guide
Planning for the northern Free State Vaal climate
Aluminium windows and doors Parys buyers should plan for hot summers with afternoon thunderstorms and hail, cold, dry winters with frost, and damp air along the Vaal River. Three practical choices follow:
- Frame the river view. Wide sliding doors or folding doors suit riverside homes and guesthouses that open onto a deck.
- Top hung windows can stay open in light rain, so rooms stay ventilated through summer storms. See top hung aluminium windows.
- Let in the winter sun. North-facing windows warm a room on cold, clear days.
For aluminium windows and doors Parys homes near the river, aluminium does not rot or swell in damp air, and laminated safety glass holds together if summer hail cracks a pane.
