Side hung window sizes at Coetz™ run from 600 × 900 mm up to 2 400 × 1 800 mm, with one tall 600 × 2 100 mm option on a cill. Sizes go up in 300 mm steps in most places, so they line up with standard brick openings. This guide explains how the sizes work, the sash heights, prices for common sizes and how to pick the right one.

How sizes are written
Side hung window sizes are written as width × height in millimetres, so 1 200 × 900 mm is 1 200 mm wide and 900 mm high. Measure the opening in three places each way and use the smallest reading; see how to measure aluminium windows.
The size range
| Layout | Widths (mm) | Heights (mm) |
|---|---|---|
| Single opener | 600 to 1 800 | 900 to 1 800 |
| Twin opener | 1 200 to 2 400 | 900 to 1 800 |
| Single opener on a cill | 600 | 2 100 |
Not every width comes in every height, so check the product page for the layout you want; see side hung aluminium windows.
Sash sizes
The opening part, the sash, is hinged on one side and swings out like a small door. A sash is limited to 600 mm wide, so wider side hung window sizes combine one or two sashes with fixed glass in the same frame. Sashes come in three heights:
- 900 mm sash: the most common choice for bedrooms and kitchens.
- 1 200 mm sash: a taller opening for more air.
- 1 500 mm sash: made in the 36 mm heavy-duty frame only.

Frame depth
Most side hung window sizes come in two frame depths. The 30.5 mm standard frame suits most homes. The 36 mm heavy-duty frame has a deeper, stiffer profile for larger sashes and exposed walls, and it is the only frame for the 1 500 mm sash. See aluminium window frames.
Side hung window sizes and prices
Single opener with a 900 mm sash, 30.5 mm frame, White, excluding VAT, at the time of writing (October 2026):
| Size (mm) | Price |
|---|---|
| 600 × 900 | R1 946 |
| 1 200 × 900 | R2 797 |
| 1 200 × 1 200 | R3 468 |
| 1 500 × 1 200 | R3 760 |
| 1 800 × 1 200 | R4 060 |
| 1 800 × 1 800 | R6 205 |
A twin opener costs more at the same size (R4 600 at 1 200 × 1 200 mm). The 36 mm heavy-duty frame adds roughly 9%. Bronze and Charcoal cost the same as White; Black costs about 10% more and Natural Anodised about 20% more, though Natural Anodised is not made in the 36 mm frame.

Common sizes by room
These side hung window sizes suit most rooms:
- Bathroom: 600 × 900 or 600 × 1 200 mm. See aluminium bathroom windows.
- Kitchen: 1 200 × 900 mm above a counter.
- Bedroom: 1 200 × 1 200 or 1 500 × 1 200 mm.
- Living room: 1 800 × 1 500 mm or a 2 400 mm twin opener.
Choosing the right size
- Measure the opening and take the smallest reading.
- Choose the nearest standard size just below it.
- Pick the sash height for the airflow you want.
- Check the swing. The sash opens outwards, so keep paths, plants and walkways clear of its swing.
- Choose the frame and colour.
If your opening falls between side hung window sizes, ask us before you order; see aluminium window sizes.
