Planning for the North West climate
Aluminium windows and doors Rustenburg buyers should plan for hot summers with heavy afternoon thunderstorms, mild, dry winters with cold nights, and dust from the surrounding mining areas. Three practical choices follow:
- Top hung windows can stay open in a light storm, so rooms stay ventilated through hot summer afternoons. See top hung aluminium windows.
- Shade the west. A deep roof overhang or veranda keeps afternoon heat off large glass areas; dark frames get warmer in direct sun than light ones.
- Keep tracks clean. Dust from the dry season and nearby mining collects in sliding tracks, so vacuum them before the grit wears the rollers.
A wipe with mild soapy water keeps the powder coat looking new; aluminium does not rot or need painting.
