Where a top hung aluminium window 1800 × 1200 works best
Living rooms, main bedrooms and dining rooms. The 1.2 m height gives a proper seated view out, and the 1.8 m width lights a standard room from one wall. It is the size most commonly designed into new residential plans, which also makes it the easiest to match when replacing steel windows in an older house.
Why a twin opener at this size
With 2.16 m² of opening, splitting the span into two sashes is what keeps the window practical. Each sash stays light enough to operate one-handed, the hardware is not over-stressed, and you keep the option of ventilating one side only — useful on a west-facing wall in the afternoon. It is one of the most specified sizes we build, which is why we keep the top hung aluminium window 1800 × 1200 as a standard catalogue item rather than a custom order.
Top hung aluminium window 1800 × 1200: fitting notes
Frame size is 1790 × 1190 mm. This is a large unit to handle: carry it on edge, never flat, and have two people on site for installation. Confirm the lintel is sized for the span and that the sill is level before the frame goes in, because packing out a 1.8 m frame to correct a sloping sill rarely ends well.
Glass and finish on this top hung aluminium window 1800 × 1200
Every unit is glazed as standard with 6.38 mm clear laminated safety glass. Laminated glass holds together on impact because the interlayer retains the fragments, which is why it is our standard rather than an upgrade. The frame is powder coated in your choice of Black, White, Bronze, Charcoal or Natural Anodised.
Ordering this top hung aluminium window 1800 × 1200
This is a made-to-order unit with a lead time of 1–2 days from order. Aluminium windows and doors are supplied only — installation is arranged by your own builder or installer, which keeps the manufactured product separate from the installation contract. Collection is from Laser Park, Roodepoort, with Gauteng delivery and national supply options depending on the order and destination.
If your opening does not match this size, we manufacture to your dimensions — send the structural opening width and height and we will confirm what can be built. Final responsibility for measurements rests with the customer, so check the opening before ordering.
