In this guide
Planning for the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands climate
Aluminium windows and doors Pietermaritzburg buyers should plan for hot, humid summers with afternoon thunderstorms and hail, and cool, dry winters with misty or frosty mornings. Three practical choices follow:
- Top hung windows can stay open in light rain, so rooms stay ventilated through summer storms. See top hung aluminium windows.
- Open-out doors suit weather-facing walls, because open-in doors are not recommended where rain can reach them.
- Let the winter sun in. North-facing glass warms living areas on cool Midlands mornings, while a roof overhang keeps the summer sun off.
Laminated safety glass holds together if hail cracks it, and humidity does not swell aluminium the way it does timber.
