Planning for the East Griqualand climate
Aluminium windows and doors Kokstad buyers should plan for warm summers with mist and afternoon thunderstorms, cold winters with frost and the odd snowfall, and strong winds. Three practical choices follow:
- Let in the winter sun. North-facing windows and sliding doors warm a room on cold, clear days.
- Top hung windows can stay open in light rain, so rooms stay aired on misty, wet days. See top hung aluminium windows.
- Clear the drainage. Keep the drainage slots in sliding tracks clear so summer rain runs out rather than in.
Aluminium does not rot or swell in damp, misty weather, and laminated safety glass holds together if a pane is cracked.
