In this guide
Planning for the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast climate
Aluminium windows and doors Port Shepstone buyers should plan for hot, humid summers with heavy rain, mild winters and salt air from the sea. Three practical choices follow:
- Top hung windows can stay open in summer rain, so rooms stay ventilated in the humid season. See top hung aluminium windows.
- Rinse frames regularly. Salt air leaves a film on frames and tracks; rinse them with fresh water every few weeks.
- Keep the drainage slots clear. Heavy summer rain needs the drainage slots in sliding tracks open so water runs out.
Powder-coated aluminium does not rot or swell in humid air, so it suits the Hibiscus Coast’s subtropical climate.
