Aluminium windows and doors Tembisa: what to plan for
Tembisa is one of the largest townships in Gauteng, and home extensions, second storeys and new rental rooms are being built all the time. Standard window and door sizes make every one of these faster and cheaper: the builder sets the openings to suit and the windows arrive ready to fit, with laminated safety glass for security.
Tembisa is on the Highveld, in the Ekurhuleni area: hot summers with afternoon thunderstorms and hail, and cold, dry, frosty winters. Three choices follow. Laminated safety glass holds together if hail or a stone cracks a pane. Top hung windows can stay open in light rain, so rooms stay ventilated through summer storms; see top hung aluminium windows. And north-facing living rooms with wide sliding doors catch the low winter sun, while a roof overhang keeps the summer sun off the glass.

Most orders from Tembisa are renovations: replacing old steel or timber windows, adding a patio door, or building an extension. Standard sizes make every one of these faster and cheaper. If an old opening is an odd size, the estimator prices the exact size, or the builder can adjust the opening slightly to take a standard window.
