Planning for the northern KwaZulu-Natal climate
Aluminium windows and doors Dundee buyers should plan for hot summers with heavy afternoon thunderstorms and hail, cold, dry winters with frost, and dust on windy days. Three practical choices follow:
- Top hung windows can stay open in light rain, so rooms stay ventilated through summer storms. See top hung aluminium windows.
- Let in the winter sun. North-facing windows and sliding doors warm a room on cold, clear days.
- Clear the drainage. Keep the drainage slots in sliding tracks clear so heavy summer rain runs out rather than in.
Laminated safety glass holds together if summer hail cracks a pane, which keeps the opening closed until it is replaced.
