Planning for the Limpopo climate
Aluminium windows and doors Polokwane buyers should plan for hot summers with heavy afternoon thunderstorms, mild, dry winters and dusty weeks before the rains. Three practical choices follow:
- Top hung windows can stay open in a light storm, so rooms stay ventilated through hot summer afternoons. See top hung aluminium windows.
- Shade the west. A deep roof overhang or veranda keeps afternoon heat off large glass areas; dark frames get warmer in direct sun than light ones.
- Keep tracks clean. Dry-season dust collects in sliding tracks, so vacuum them before the grit wears the rollers.
Aluminium does not warp or crack in dry heat, and the powder coat only needs a wipe to stay looking new.
