In this guide
Planning for the Cape Winelands climate
Aluminium windows and doors Stellenbosch buyers should plan for hot, dry summers with a strong south-easter, cool, wet winters, and rain driven against west- and north-facing walls. Three practical choices follow:
- Cut the summer heat and glare. West-facing windows and sliding doors can take the tinted glass options priced in the online estimator.
- Frame the mountain or vineyard view. Wide sliding doors or folding doors open a lounge to the stoep.
- Clear the drainage. Keep the drainage slots in sliding tracks clear so winter rain runs out rather than in.
For aluminium windows and doors Stellenbosch homes, closing windows fully in the south-easter protects the hinges, and laminated safety glass holds together if a pane is cracked.
