Designed as a Complete Shopfront, Not an Afterthought

An automatic sliding door works best when it is designed as part of the complete shopfront rather than added to an ordinary opening afterwards. The sliding leaves, fixed panels and operator all share the same structure, so their dimensions have to be coordinated from the start. When Coetz™ designs an automatic sliding-door shopfront, the following are assessed together:

  • Overall opening size and the required clear opening
  • Sliding-leaf and fixed-sidelight dimensions, sized together so the leaves stack correctly
  • Single sliding versus bi-parting layout
  • Operator and track allowance in the header
  • Transom or header provision above the doors
  • Floor-guide requirements at the threshold
  • Safety-glass selection for the leaves and fixed panels
  • Access-control preparation, where required
  • Service access to the operator for future maintenance

Getting these right at manufacturing stage means the door achieves its intended clear opening and the operator mounts onto properly prepared framing rather than improvised supports.

Automatic Sliding Door Configurations

Single Sliding Automatic Doors

A single sliding automatic door uses one active leaf that moves to one side, typically travelling behind or alongside a fixed panel. It suits openings where stacking space is available on one side and is often the practical choice for narrower shopfronts. The leaf and fixed panel are sized together so that the door still achieves the required clear opening when fully open.

Bi-Parting Automatic Sliding Doors

Bi-parting automatic sliding doors use two active leaves that open away from the centre, usually giving a balanced commercial entrance with a generous clear opening. They need stacking space on both sides — normally over fixed sidelights — so the overall opening must be wide enough to accommodate both leaves and their parked positions.

Aluminium-Framed Automatic Sliding Doors

Aluminium-framed automatic sliding doors coordinate framed sliding leaves with fixed sidelights, transoms and the operator header in one engineered assembly. The framing carries the glass safely, provides solid fixing points for the track and floor guides, and can be finished to match the rest of the shopfront. This is the most common construction for aluminium shopfronts for automatic doors.

Frameless Automatic Glass Doors

Frameless automatic glass doors give a minimal, glass-forward entrance. Each frameless configuration is custom assessed: the glass specification, patch fittings, opening size, structural support and operator compatibility all have to be confirmed together before manufacture. Where a frameless assembly is not suitable for the opening, a slim aluminium-framed alternative is proposed.

Automatic Sliding Doors with Fixed Sidelights

Fixed sidelights and moving leaves must be sized together. The sidelights provide the stacking zone the leaves park over, so their width directly determines the clear opening the entrance can achieve. Coetz™ works backwards from the clear opening you need to the leaf and sidelight dimensions that deliver it.

What is the MC-125 automatic sliding-door operator?

The MC-125 is a commercial automatic sliding-door operator suitable for single sliding and bi-parting doors. It is tested to one million operating cycles and carries a two-year warranty, subject to written terms. Further specification is confirmed during technical assessment.

Can I buy the MC-125 without a shopfront?

Are frameless automatic glass doors available?

Yes, subject to technical assessment. Frameless configurations are custom assessed according to the glass, fittings, opening size, support requirements and operator compatibility.

What measurements are needed for a quotation?

The overall opening width and height, the clear opening you require, and your preferred configuration. Site dimensions are confirmed before manufacture.

Can the MC-125 replace an existing operator?

Often, subject to technical assessment of the existing door, track and opening. Send us photographs and dimensions of the existing installation and we will confirm suitability in the quotation.

Are sensors included?
