Planning a tall opening
- Set the head height early. The builder forms the opening to the door height plus the fitting gap. Our doors are made 10 mm smaller than the catalogue size.
- Line up the heads. In a double-volume room, align the door head with nearby window heads, or plan a fixed toplight above the door to fill the height (see toplights and sidelights).
- Check the floor finish. The frame sits on the finished floor, so allow for tiles or screed.
- Plan the delivery. Tall, wide frames are oversized. Check that they can get through the estate gate, into the driveway and into the house.
Estate guidelines
Waterfall, Kyalami and the other Midrand estates usually set the frame colour, often Charcoal or Black, in their architectural guidelines. Send the product drawings, which are viewed from inside, with your plans, and get the aesthetics committee’s approval before you order.

Glass, lock and warranty
Every door has 6.38 mm clear laminated safety glass, as SANS 10400-N requires for glazed doors. The standard is published by the South African Bureau of Standards. Sliding doors close with a hook lock. Frames, glass and powder coating are covered for 5 years and hardware and seals for 2 years against manufacturing defects (see our warranty).
