Planning for the Lowveld climate
Aluminium windows and doors Nelspruit buyers should plan for hot, humid summers, with most of the town’s rain falling in heavy afternoon thunderstorms, and mild, dry winters. Three practical choices follow:
- Top hung windows can stay open in light rain, so rooms stay ventilated through summer storms. See top hung aluminium windows.
- Open-out doors suit weather-facing walls, because open-in doors are not recommended where rain can reach them.
- Shade the west. A deep roof overhang or veranda keeps summer heat off large glass areas; dark frames get warmer in direct sun than light ones.
Humidity does not harm aluminium the way it swells timber, but rinse frames and keep tracks clean so grit and mould do not build up.
