For aluminium windows Johannesburg-wide, Coetz™ makes every window at our Laser Park workshop and publishes every price online. You can order online, collect free from Laser Park, or have the windows delivered anywhere in Johannesburg. There is no quote to wait for and no showroom to visit. Every window is made to order in 1–2 days, glazed with 6.38 mm clear laminated safety glass and finished in one of five colours. This page sets out what aluminium windows cost in Johannesburg, which window suits which room, and how collection and delivery work across the city.
Coetz™ supplies only. Your builder or a window installer fits the windows (see aluminium window installers). Because you don’t pay for a site visit or an installation team, the price you see is the price of the window.

Aluminium windows Johannesburg: which window for which room
Most Johannesburg homes use a mix of window types:
- Top hung windows are hinged at the top and open outwards from the bottom. They keep a summer storm out while they are open, so they are the most popular aluminium windows in Johannesburg for bedrooms, kitchens and bathrooms. See top hung aluminium windows.
- Side hung windows open like a door and let in the most air for their size. See side hung aluminium windows.
- Sliding windows do not project outside, so they suit walkways, patios and narrow side passages. See aluminium sliding windows.
- Fixed windows are the cheapest way to add light, for example beside a door, above a stairwell or in a gable.

Aluminium windows Johannesburg: built for the Highveld climate
Johannesburg sits on the Highveld at about 1 750 m above sea level, and the weather here is hard on windows in three ways:
Summer thunderstorms and hail
From about October to March, afternoon storms bring heavy, wind-driven rain and sometimes hail. Aluminium windows in Johannesburg have to drain water out of the frame quickly. Every Coetz™ frame has drainage slots at the bottom. Keep them clear, because a blocked slot is the most common cause of a leak (see aluminium windows leaking). Laminated glass also helps in a hailstorm: if a pane cracks, the interlayer holds the pieces together instead of letting them fall into the room.
Strong sun at altitude
UV is strong at this altitude, and it fades and chalks cheap finishes. Our frames are powder-coated or anodised, and the finish is covered for 5 years (see our warranty). If your windows face north or west, note that darker colours run warmer in full sun. That doesn’t damage the frame, but it is worth knowing when you choose between White, Bronze, Charcoal and Black.
Dry, dusty winters
From May to August there is very little rain, and wind carries dust into tracks and seals. Vacuum sliding tracks and wash seals before the first spring storm. The routine is in how to clean aluminium windows.

Replacing steel and wooden windows in Johannesburg homes
Many older Johannesburg suburbs, such as Melville, Parkhurst, Greenside, Linden, Kensington, Observatory and Emmarentia, were built with steel or timber windows. Decades later, those frames have often rusted, warped or been painted shut. Replacing them with aluminium windows is one of the most common jobs we supply for.
- Measure the opening, not the old frame. Take the brick-to-brick size once the old frame is out, then order the standard size that fits. Our units are made 10 mm smaller than the catalogue size so they fit with room for packers and sealant. See how to measure aluminium windows.
- Keep the look of the house. Our Victorian-style top hung windows have the divided panes that suit older Joburg houses. White and Charcoal are the usual choices on heritage-style homes.
- Check heritage rules. Buildings older than 60 years can be protected under heritage law, so check with your architect before you change the facade.
The full process is in replace steel windows with aluminium.
Aluminium windows Johannesburg: townhouses, complexes and estates
A large share of Johannesburg homes are in sectional-title complexes and estates. Most complexes check three things before they approve aluminium windows Johannesburg owners want to fit:
- Get approval first. Exterior changes usually need the trustees’ or the HOA’s approval, and many complexes set the colour and window style.
- Match what is already there. Most complexes use White, Bronze or Charcoal, and we make all three at the same price.
- Plan the delivery. Estate security often needs the driver’s name and vehicle details in advance. Arrange access, or collect the windows yourself.
